Frequently Asked Questions

Does Tespit send my screenshots to the cloud?

No. All processing happens entirely on your Mac. Screenshots are analysed using Apple Vision and Apple Intelligence (FoundationModels) — both run locally on your device. No data ever leaves your Mac.

Does Tespit use any third-party AI services?

No. Tespit exclusively uses Apple's native on-device frameworks. No data is sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other external provider.

What happens to my screenshots after analysis?

Screenshots are held in application memory during your session only. They are never written to disk and are released when you close the app or delete the report.

Why does the AI analysis seem limited on my Mac?

Full AI-powered analysis requires macOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence enabled. On older systems, Tespit uses a deterministic heuristic analysis that detects overlapping elements and generates structured reports without AI. Both modes are fully functional and private.

How do I grant screen capture permission?

Tespit uses macOS's native interactive screen capture (the same crosshair as Command+Shift+4). On most systems, this works without additional permissions. If prompted, grant screen recording access in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording.
